Snowed In, Priority Art

Hello Readers!

It's been a few days since I was last here. I've kept busy but the muse still seems to be going crazy. I've started even more UFOs. It will all come together eventually. I have UFOs that were started, literally, years ago sitting on my shelves. We won't talk about those today, though.
Today we will discuss snow, books and those newest of UFOs.

When I got up this morning (around 8:30) I had every intention of just going to the bathroom and climbing right back between those sheets for some more shut eye. I said to Tommy cat, who thinks my bed is his, "Stay right there and I'll be right back." I went to the bathroom and then to the kitchen to unplug my phone from the charger and to look outside to see how much snow fell. I looked out the back door to see this:
It was so pretty! That's my brother, Sammy, shoveling a path to my back door. I opened the back door window and hollered to him, "What the heck are you doing shoveling before it's even done?" He hollered back, "Do you have electricity?"
I hadn't been awake longer to know if I did or not.
I did not. Nor did they or Ma. Ma's house is just this side of those tall trees peeking over Sammy's house. It got a little chilly in the house by 11 a.m. when the electricity came back on. No clue how long it had been off.
I really do wish I were 30 years younger. I would have been out there come morning to build a snow sculpture. This snow is perfect building snow! Wet. Heavy. And LOTS of it! I'm very thankful there isn't more of it. It very well could have been a bunch more than the 8-9 inches that did fall.
As you can see by the little elm tree at the bottom of the picture, the snow is hard on the trees. So far they've all held up. It rained right before the snow hit around midnight last night. It's windy as all get out yet that snow refuses to fall from the trees. It's stuck tight as the branches sway in that stiff 30 mph wind. Temps were in the lower 30s.
Sammy shoveled a path to my back door and cleaned off the back steps. He came in to warm up a bit before he headed back home. I couldn't even offer him a cup of coffee at that time. All I had to offer was last night's leftover pot of tea. He said, "Thanks, but no thanks."
It snowed off and on all day.
I was prepared for this storm. I made a run to town with Ma on Saturday for supplies.

The muse is actually on board for Mail Art and Valentine's this month!  I've started my weirdy mail and the valentines. I'm not sure just how many valentines I will need but if I don't have enough I can easily make more. I can't show you weirdy mail but I can show you some of the progress on valentines.
All those pink papers will be involved in the valentines. You can't see the stack of 6 inch cardboard hearts that are under one sheet of that pink paper. I'm showing off my messy table in the kitchen too. The pink paper in the middle of the table, that's the painted newspaper that's always on the table. The other papers are book pages from two different books that are painted different shades of pink. They will be turned into little hearts.
More to come with the valentines another day.

Last post I told you all there were a boatload of little books to be finished. I haven't finished all that are waiting, but I am getting some done.

This one is 3 x 3 inches, made from a fancy chipboard box. It has copy paper pages, around 60 pages. It's sewn with green hemp cord. The button is plastic and the beads are glass.
This one is exactly like the previous one. It is sewn in embroidery thread instead of hemp cord and has a green button instead of blue.
This one is 5 x 7.5 inches. It's made from a box (I forget what came in it) covered with painted newspaper. Sewn in the long stitch with embroidery thread. It has 120 pages of notebook paper.

Three down, a few more to go.....
Books have been on the muse's radar for months! I have a suitcase full of little books in addition to this box that is almost full of books. I'll be needing to find another box for books. This one's gonna fill up pretty quick.

I've been sitting in front of this computer for hours and hours every day watching youtube and folding these little papers.

The day before yesterday this 18 inch tall, 3 gallon pickle jar was about half full of folded magazine paper units for paper baskets. I cannot add anymore to it so it looks like I better get busy and make some more paper baskets!

I forgot to take a picture of the fish pictures and the newest kitties in Annie's book. The fish pictures aren't done, but I've added to them.

I'm going to stick close to home and wait out the snow. I think it will take a few days for it to disappear.
I hope January was good to you all. I won't complain!

Thanks for hanging on till the end.
I'll be back another day to show off the finished projects and probably talk about some new ones.

Remember...
Be kind to one another.
It matters!
Peace
