Maybe I've gone daft, but this doesn't work the same way as it did the last time I made a post.... Yeah, the pictures were easier to upload but now I can only type with the text centered? Hmmm...guess I'll have to play around with the newness.

I didn't get to post yesterday cause that damned fibro kicked my butt again and I was asleep by 6p.m. The two done yesterday were done early morning but I had other things to do yesterday and never got around to scanning before I was way too wore out to do so. 

I never did get to see my youngest son and his family this past weekend. Not sure why they didn't come over but I'm headed to Phillipsburg this afternoon to see them. I will do that if I don't go to Kearny, Nebraska with Susan this morning. I'm not sure if she needs someone to drive her there for her drs. appt or not. She never decided yesterday when I saw here. Maybe her son will drive her...if he doesn't I will. I'd like to see my own son and take that paperwork back to Pburg today but I may have to change those plans...still yet to see.

I finally got a picture of that silly Billy cat with his eyes open. He is a pretty boy! There is a lot of snow inside the pen at Susan's house, which is where Billy is sitting when I took this picture, yet there's green grass under that snow!

Fred smells something.

There were field mice, perhaps a rat, under the snow cover inside the pen. You can tell how deep that drift is by the way the dog is standing in it. He has his nose buried in the snow. He eventually dug clear down to the grass, trying to get whatever he had smelled there. He was adamant about catching that varmint. He never did though. The snow was quickly melting in the sunshine. Temps in the mid 40s F that day.

There's Billy in the pen again. The snow was quite deep at one time. We had snow on the ground still the last two times it snowed in my neck of the woods. Not much sunshine gets to the snow you see here.

Beautiful blue skies to the north. This is what I see when I look north walking across my yard to my sister's house. Most of those little black dots on the hill back there are little pine trees. There is one dot right on top the hill that is a sculpture of a bull. I'll have to take a better picture of it. There's another one not a half mile to the east on another hill to the north. I can see them both at the same time. It's dark out now or I'd go take another picture.

I like the wide open spaces in my space. The field you see in this picture is where the deer congregate to eat wheat when there is wheat growing in this field. Nothing growing out there right now....if memory serves me correctly, there was milo planted in this field last year. The deer were there then as well. Wild turkeys, all kinds of critters out there in that field. My cats think it is their own personal hunting ground. I'm sure there are plenty of little varmints to be had out there!

This is the tree between my house and Susan's. I need to practice taking interesting pictures. This one is kind of interesting. I'll be glad when summer rolls around again so I can take pictures of bugs and flowers. They usually make interesting pictures.

I've rambled on enough today. You all go get your hugs and give a few back as well. I'll see what I can do in that department.

Looks as though I am headed to Kearny, Nebraska in about an hour's time.

Early Sunday Morning

Another post full of art. I have been busy!
There's a Collage-a-thon happening over at AFA this weekend. I've made four cards for that CAT, traded 2 of them. I forgot to scan one of them to show you all. I haven't presented it over at the CAT yet either.
I got up at 1 a.m. when the phone was ringing. It stopped ringing by the time I crawled out of bed. Takes me much longer than six rings to get from one end of the house to the other even when I'm not asleep. It was my youngest son. I didn't call him back at that time. He was probably calling to let me know why they hadn't come over on Saturday. I might just have to put some gas in the van and make a drive to Pburg later today to see him and his clan. Been awhile since I've laid eyes on the boy.

It is now 6:30 a.m. There abouts...give or take a minute or two. It is cold in the house this morning. Fred hasn't wanted out so it must be pretty chilly outside as well. I've had some breakfast and 2 pots of coffee. Two pots of coffee sounds like a boatload of coffee but it really isn't. My pot only makes two cups at a time! Not bouncing off the wall just yet.
Yesterday I had some trouble with my eyes. Second time it has happened. They go buggy...everything gets all burry and I feel like I'm going to pass out. Not sure what is going on with that. I took my blood sugars right after the occurance and they were sitting at 270...that's pretty high. Not sure the blood sugars being so high had anything to do with it or not. This happened the day before yesterday as well. I didn't take my blood sugars the first time it happened. Gonna have to make an appt with the doc to figure this one out. Keep my fingers crossed it doesn't happen again today. The episodes have only lasted about three minutes but it was quite unsettling. Can't have my eyes giving out on me! Heck no! If that happened, how the hell would I be able to do art??? Scary stuff! That damned diabetes is a pain in the ass. Among other places! I'm sure I'll be fine though. I am, afterall, an optimist.

I felt pretty good when I got up at 1 so I commenced with artwork. Seems to be a habit now. It's a good habit though so I'll keep at it as long as I can. I am prolific where the art is concerned. Whether it is good art or not is up to you all to decide. I think some of it is pretty good but there are other pcs that are just crap! (Works that way with poetry too. Some is really good, some is total crap.) I must do it though. It's kind of like breathing.

I have the music blaring this morning. Ran the cats and the dog out of this room, the music is so loud. Or maybe they aren't in the mood to hear me sing this morning? That's OK though, that kitten, Lola, is but a pain in the neck when she's in here anyway. Wants to sit on the desk when I don't want her on the desk. Doob's not a problem, she sits atop the tower and minds her own business and Billy sits atop the printer playing with things he shouldn't be playing with. Fred is just in the way cause he takes up a lot of room. Billy and Fred are asleep on my bed, Lola is probably in the laundry room asleep on top of a stack of blankets in there. Not sure where Doob is. Maybe in the livingroom chair. I'll let Billy out when Fred decides it is time to go out. Billy wanted out earlier but I convinced him it wasn't time to go out. I just didn't open the door to let him out and he gave up sitting in front of the front door after about 15 minutes of waiting on me to play butler to his hide. I guess the critters aren't in the mood for rock 'n roll this morning!

It's not really fabric, but I don't know what else to call it. It's kind of a cross between mullberry paper and tissue paper but feels like cloth.

I could have sworn those eyes were straight when I sat that card on the shelf to dry but when I went to scan the darn thing, this is what I found. So we have a goofy pink cat!

Last year I did 970 some inchies. I haven't officially made a specific goal of how many inchies I intend to make this year. Last year's goal was 1000. I just missed that goal! These are the first 12 of the year. We'll see how many have been made when December 31 rolls around again.

I made these at my sister's house yesterday while waiting for lunch to get done. My favorite of this bunch is the pink flower at the far right of the top row. Which one is your favorite?

The following five ATCs were done early this morning. I was off googling shoes yesterday with every intention of drawing some sexy shoes today. God knows I can't wear those sexy shoes but I sure can draw them. I have the legs to pull off wearing high heels, but my back says "Are you crazy?!" The shoes are titled with the name of the shoe, if one was given in my google searches. If the shoes had only an ordering number, I gave them a made-up name.

Markers on recycled cardstock.

Those two green specks are glitter from the cat and fish card earlier. It was on the scanner bed and I didn't notice it till after I'd scanned this one. They aren't really on the card itself.

I'm sure in the coming weeks there will be more shoes to be seen. We shall see how fast these get traded once I get them in my availables gallery. I love drawing shoes. Hate wearing them, but drawing them is painless! :)

I know it looks like I do a lot of art on any given day and it's true that I do a lot of art. It took less than an hour to do the shoes. It's the collage cards that take forever to accomplish! I can whip out cards in marker in no time at all. When I do inchies at my sister's house, I've whipped out four or five to everyone else's one. I don't know why or how I can make them so fast, but I can. I can't do it every day, but on the days when the muse is in cooperation with the hands, yeah, drawing comes quickly.

I'm going to cut paper for some more little blank books this morning. I probably won't get the little books made today, but cutting the paper for them is the most boring part of making little books and cutting a lot of it all at once is much easier than cutting the paper for each book as I decide to make it.

This summer I will be making paper from all the scraps of paper I get from cutting paper for little books. I've already talked my brother into helping with that endeavor by making some screens for me. I'm looking forward to paper making even though it is a messy, tiring task. The results should be well worth the exertion put out though.

I throw a lot of paper away from cutting ATC blanks and the like. All the scraps of cardstock leftover from cutting those presentation folders just goes in the trash. I'm not sure it can be used to make new paper. I have thousands, yes thousands, of presentation folders so it's not like I won't be able to save some to experiment with once summer does roll around again.

I'm loving all the followers I'm acquiring. Says there are seven of them, but I don't think I can really count myself in that even though I am in there. I don't know how I started following myself, nor how to get me off the followers list. If anyone can help me out with that, I'd sure appreciate it! Some days I'm a total goofus! LOL

I suspect I've chattered enough today so I'll close this post out and bid you all a Splendid Sunday!

I got the idea for this drawing from an icon posted in the yapping thread. I just had to try to draw her! I named her Hilda, not sure what her name is originally or if she even had one! She's got attitude and attitude is sometimes good. I always insisted my children ate what was put before them when they were growing up and I'm sure some days they thought of me as the Evil Cook Hilda who does the same! She's just too funny.

I was kidnapped by my brother yesterday. He showed up around 9:30 a.m. and insisted I needed to get out of the house. So I got out of the house and went to his house to a movie. Extreme Measures. It was a pretty good movie. Had been quite awhile since I'd gone to see a movie with Sammy.

I'm out of here for the time being... I have more collage cards to make for the CAT this weekend. You all will be seeing more art before the weekend is over. Whether it's good art or not is up to you to decide! And while you all are making up your minds, I'll be making even more art! I do believe Andy Worhol is quite correct that it is up to others to decide if what you create is any good or not! Though I am quite aware some of it has more merit than the rest does. That's why it's important to keep on practising!

So, I'm off to practice!

Art for Thursday

Not much happening in my world today. Course that happens when you sleep the entire day away!
I've gotten into the habit of making my ATC for the day directly after getting up from sleeping. Some days that happens early morning, other days late evening, sometimes it happens in the middle of the day or the night. No rhyme or reason to it!
The kitty I painted this evening happened around 9 p.m. I'm fixing to do more kitties tonight too.

This one turned out OK, though there is much room for improvement. But as I've said before, each art session is just practice and practice makes perfect.

I sent my sister Jeanny three inchies and two twinchies the other day to make into pendants. I showed you all those pcs of art. She got them today in the mail and wants me to draw her another grey cat with green eyes on a twinchie cause she says the inchie she got with the gray cat with green eyes just isn't quite big enough. It was her favorite from the entire bunch I sent to her. So painting is on my agenda cause she also wants a black cat with orange eyes. I can't do black cats with markers. They just disappear into the paper and you'll be able to make out are the eyes so I told her I would paint one for her. She also wants two more inchies. Greedy thing! (Just kidding!) I don't have to make the inchies. With almost 1000 of them made last year, I have plenty without having to make more.

It has been some time since I dragged out the acrylics to do some painting, proper painting anyway. I did use a lot of acrylics on the big canvas, but that doesn't count cause it didn't make up the bulk of the picture.

I'm off to my painting table to create kitties and trees.

I should have started with ATCs for the pictures in this post, but that is not what occured so we'll go with some weather pictures first. It was a nice, chilly day today. Just look at that blue sky!
I finally got to drive my van again yesterday after it not running for better than a week. Dead battery, apparently. My brother, Sam, got it running for me early in the morning so I could go to the post office to mail some art to distant places. I tried to get him to mail that art off the day before but he was having none of that! He wanted me to get dressed and go to lunch with him and I could mail them then. I didn't want to get dressed and go have lunch (not just with him, but not with anyone!) So, they had to wait a day before they went postal. I'm hoping they all end up where they should end up.
I took the back road back from town and had to go over the low water bridge that you see in these pictures. That's the Solomon River just south of Stockton. There is still ice on the river. First picture is looking west, second is looking across the bridge to the east. I didn't get out of the van to take these pictures. The temp was in the low 30s still at about 9a.m. when I was out and about.
When summer is around, this scene is really pretty....all green. There's a good chance you will see deer drinking at the river by this bridge or in the field just to the south on the east side of the road. I spent a few happy afternoons years ago throwing rocks off this bridge with two little girls who grew up on me!

I figured we had sorrow so we should have joy as well. Why a pig? Just 'cause. I don't know, sometimes pigs are rather funny creatures and there have been a few pigs in my life that have brought me joy. Two come to mind....Petunia the potbelly pig who was part of the menagerie of the petting zoo I used to work for and the other would be Arnold who was our pig when I was a young'un. I smoked my first cigarette at age 11 in Arnold's pen. That should have put me off smoking those nasty things forever, but it didn't. I've smoked consistently since I was 17 with a year off the nasty habit three different times since. I'm an old bird now....30 years plus I've had that habit. Arnold always kept our secrets too!

Monkeys are fun to draw. Fun to watch. I think if reincarnation really happens, coming back as a monkey wouldn't be such a bad thing! Monkeys make a lot of people smile!

This isn't an ATC. It's a mixed media piece on a canvas 2 feet by 3 feet. It has yet to have a title. I've been talking about this canvas for about three weeks now. Well, it's finally done. Finished it about 2a.m. on Thursday. The bottom layer with the purple (down at the bottom) isn't quite dry in this picture. I looked and looked at it thinking it was missing something. But I gave up analyzing it and just decided it was indeed done.

Materials used:

The fishes are chipboard from packaging with seqins, foil from chocolate candies and a googly eye.

Copper paint pen was used on the fishes for lines in their fins, tail and mouth.

The background consists of:

thick paint that produces texture similar to stucco mixed with metallic purple acrylic

fantasy snow tinted pink with Dr. Martin's Ink

spackling compound tinted green and purple with metallic acrylic paint

toilet paper and glue mixed with gray acrylic paint and red glitter

red netting from an onion bag

black nylon scarf material

glitter of various colors

round dot confetti in pink and blue

(I painted the pink ones purple cause the pink was way too glaring!)

gold glass seed beads

green twine

two different colors of eyelash yarn

and

a boat load of metallic acrylic paint in purple, green and silver

fuschia acrylic paint

I used E6000 adhesive, quick drying 3M glue and Aleen's tacky glue to adhere all that junk to the canvas.

There is a layer of medical dictionary pages under all that stuff that kinda got lost in the process. I guess it's there to reinforce the canvas cause you certainly can't see it! There was a change of plans after the dictionary pages had been glued down.
The canvas was picked up at a yard sale by one of my sisters from the FREE box. It originally had an unfinished painting of three women in white gowns hanging in mid-air from thick heavy ropes. It was the strangest thing I'd ever seen! I'm sure, more than sure it wasn't a masterpiece I done ruined by putting fishes all over the top of it! Really the only thing that stood out prominently on the canvas were the women's faces, hands, feet and hair. Everything else was white. Sorry, no picture of it. I started on the fishes before I got my camera.

I am very pleased with the result. This is the biggest piece I have ever created. It's not the heaviest, but is the biggest. The heaviest pc of art I've ever done (not counting all the gravestones that have my art them) is the two limestone carvings I did for The Grassroots Art Center in Lucas, Kansas. Both of those are relief carvings done in chunks of limestone. One is a cat, the other a squirrel. I'll show them to you one of these days along with all the other carvings done in limestone that now constitute the limestone courtyard behind the Art Center.


I worked on another coptic stitched book early in the morning as well.

Metallic Swirls Coptic Stitch Blank Book

It has 10 signatures with 5 sheets of paper in each signature. I used Orchard paper to fill this one. It is sewn with black hemp cording that I got in a supply trade over at AFA. (I forget what I traded for that cord...maybe orchard paper? I've traded some of it.) I snagged the metal tape from my brother. Well, actually I snagged it out of my garage. My garage, my tape? :) Brother was cool with it! The book is roughly 5 inches x 6 inches and the covers are made from an old encyclopedia cover. The swirls are cotton yarn glued to the encyclopedia cover.

I got two books out of that cover from the encyclopedia!

Orchard paper reminds me of parchment paper but it's much thinner and has a specfic use. I'm uncertain what that specific use is...I've been told it was originally used to wrap/separate metal parts from one another in shipping containers. It has a dated watermark on the back indicating it was made in St. Louis, MO in 1966. I thought it was for wrapping orchard fruit, hence its name. My oldest son dragged home about 400 sheets of it some time ago. I've used it in many little books and I've made a few ATCs with it as well.

There's Billy with the book's front cover. That darn cat still won't open his eyes when I take his picture.

An now he's totally bored with his photo shoot!

Ma came and did my dishes for me while I took my sister to the Emergency Room. She has a herniated disk in her neck, among other maladies. She was in a great deal of pain. I was helping Ma with the dishes when Susan called to see if I would take her to Plainville. Ma had the dishes done when I got home. She went back to Pville to get Susan's hide. I came home before they were done with her cause I just couldn't keep my eyes open. They gave her a big ass bag of fluid by IV with some medicine in it for the nausea she was complaining about. That's the main reason she was sent to the ER by her doc up in Nebraska. She'd been puking her guts out for over 18 hours and she was miserable! I didn't think I could stay awake and drive her home once they were done with her. She can't drive at the moment because of her neck.

I haven't heard anything about what they decided was her problem, so no news, I am considering good news. Someone would have waked me if things had gone bad.

I got the laundry done last night, all except a couple loads. Ma finished those for me as well. She's a good mama! I love my mother dearly! Much more than mere words can convey!

I was asleep by 4 pm on Wednesday and back up again at 6:30pm. It is now 4:36 am on Thursday morning and I am fixing to head back to my bed for some more shut eye!

I've yapped enough for one day!

Wednesday is just starting....

Wednesday is indeed just starting...only 1:40 a.m. as I start typing this post out.
Sleep is a mess still. My family just doesn't understand my sleeping patterns. But then neither do I. I hurt like a big dog today and there are dishes, laundry, vaccuuming and tree dismantling to be done. I really want the Christmas out of the livingroom! It's been there quite long enough!
I have laundry started, two loads down and still about five or six to go. I let that laundry get out of hand! And we won't talk about the state of the kitchen...it's atrocious actually. I intend on tackling that today as well.
I've been working on downloading my cd collection to this new pc since I got up earlier this evening. Got Nickleback in right now. Had LeAnne Womack just previous. I have quite an electic collection of music. I lost all the music files from the old pc cause I don't have any idea how to transfer them to the new pc so I just started over. No biggie! I don't have all the cds that were on the old pc, but most of them and then some that were never downloaded to the old pc so I have a whole new collection of music on the new pc, basically.

Here is the ATC for the 365 Project for the 12th. Got it drawn as the time was drawing near...was about 11:30 p.m. when I drew it. Lots of the participants were doing pears for their daily ATCs so I just decided I'd do one as well. There are some awesome pears in the collection from some awesome artists.

Why pear #48? Well, it certainly is not the 48th pear I've drawn, least I don't think it is. Pear just didn't seem enough for a title! I've done that before though, put a number, a random number behind the title of an ATC.

This is the only piece of art I have to show you all today. Enjoy.

If I hadn't slept the day away on Tuesday, I may have gone outside and taken some pictures with the camera, but beings I did sleep Tuesday away....16 hours of it anyway... I did not get outside to take any pictures! It was a nice day out too.

The snow is melting quite nicely and leaving some puddles behind. There's a nice big puddle by the front door that I wish was not there, but the dog seems not to notice it is there and he hasn't stepped in it on his way back into the house.

I'd love to show you all the cutest video I took of my granddaughter sitting on my son's lap over Christmas but I can't figure out how to add video to these posts. Gonna have to study on that. Annabel was blowing raspberries. She's only 4 months old in that video. It was just too cute! Next post I'll show you all a picture of her and her papa.

The kids keep trying to get me to move down to Nickerson where they are. That ain't happening though! No matter how much I miss them, I cannot just pack up and move! Just can't do it!

I should have more than just one ATC to show you all tomorrow. I have pictures on the camera of another book I sewed up the day before yesterday but I've yet to download those pictures. When the book covers are dry that I just gessoed, I'll get them decorated and the book sewn and you'll get to see that one too. I already have the pages cut and holes punched in them for sewing. I have to go out to the garage (in the dark) to get the foil tape to use on the book covers I just gessoed. I probably could have foregone the gessoing but it's already done so gessoed they are! Might as well walk across the highway and get the mail out of the mailbox while I'm out there.

I have paperwork to fill out tonight as well. That paperwork has got to be done and returned by the end of the week! That's a must! I have to do that paperwork every January and I hate having to do it. It's not a hard task, it's just that I don't like doing it! It isn't just filling out their paperwork, it's also gathering other paperwork for them. A trip to the bank is in order for that paperwork too.

Hopefully my van is fixed. I don't know if it is or not. Sam looked at it on Monday, put the battery charger on it. I don't know if it started or not though cause I went to sleep before he was done with it and he never wakes me for anything. It wouldn't matter if he did wake me...I'll go back to sleep without any trouble but that's just how my brother is. I think he thinks I will get mad if he wakes me but I won't get mad. I never get mad about anything too often. It takes a great deal to get me angry and waking me from sleep is not one of those things!

Old Cat Inchies

I drew the Bunny today, for my sister Jeanny to make into a pendant for a necklace. The inchies were all drawn sometime last year. Sis wants those for pendants as well.

yeah, It is Tuesday, no doubt about it!

I've accomplished zilch today. Nadda! Zip!

The old body is still in rebel mode and I'm fixing to head back to bed! I shall yak at you all tomorrow....
