A Whole Lotta Not A Bunch

Hello Readers!

As the title implies there isn't a lot to see here.
I have neglected to show a couple things done but mostly there hasn't been much done since I was here six days ago. I said art would slow down. I don't know just what has replaced the art time though. Sleep is all I can think of. I've done a lot of that in the last week.
Monday I was up and raring to go at 8a.m. There was some excitement expected to the east. To the near east. In the far drive where we keep the iron pile. Bob showed up with the baling machine in tow and I sat out there watching that pile of iron turn into cubes. If I had been thinking straight that morning I would have taken some photographs. All I did take was video though and I do not know how to upload a video. If I figure that out, I'll show you that machine in motion! I must admit that I am in love with the whole scene of junk. Big machines are fascinating to me and the men who run those machines, they are pretty amazing as well in my eyes. Bob the Baler is a magician when he's in the cab of that machine! He crushed a pickup cab just enough so my brother could take the back window out of it unbroken. Impressive work he can do with the grapple on the machine. Monday was an excellent day for me!
With the removal of the iron pile, I got to see my good friend, Bob and get a hug from him. I got to hang out with my brother for a few hours and I got a little wad of cash from it all as well! Yep! Monday was a GREAT day for me!
I have been battling the sleep monster. I was up at 8 a.m. on Monday morning but I'd been up since about 11 p.m Sunday. I'm slowly turning my nights and days back around. I had been sleeping all day, up all night. I got up at 2 a.m this morning. It's now 5:30 p.m. I'll be headed to bed eventually.

I forgot to take a picture of the fish picture with its fishes before I downloaded the camera to the computer and at the moment the phone (where the camera lives) is in the middle of a download itself. So that means I will have to remember to do that before I get around to the next post. I also forgot to scan an ATC I did the other day. I totally forgot about that ATC until just now I saw it on the pile here on my messy desk top. Fodder for the next post, I guess.

I have spent the last four days working on some aluminum tea can woven birds. These are just like the paper birds I showed you all in the last post.

Except they are made from strips from a Raspberry Tea can.

My sister asked me I could make her something that wouldn't cost more than $10 that she could give to one of her co-workers. She said this lady has a hot pink christmas tree and wanted something that would  fit in that theme. Hot pink birds was all I could come up with on short notice. I wasn't sure it could be done with aluminum but it worked out wonderfully. It wasn't much different than weaving paper actually. I ended up making six of them. I still need to add a silver jump ring to the back so they can be hung.

I played around with aluminum strips for those four days. I also wove some strips together to make an aluminum fabric of sorts. It's not very big, 1.5 x 4 inches...thereabouts. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.  If I hadn't crimped all the other strips I had cut, I would finish it. I don't know what I'm going to do with the crimped strips either. They'll probably go on a future fish picture. They are rather interesting. Sorry, no picture of either of those.

I made the cover for another little book. I really need to sew some little books. I have pages cut and covers made for three already. And I don't know how many covers are ready for the next stage. Five, maybe six?

There are still many squares cut to fold tree components:

I managed to put together five paper tree ornaments. These are doubled sided. I made two separate trees and then glued them back to back with a loop of green crewel embroidery yarn as a hanger.

They are about three inches tall. I'm still deciding if they need a trunk or not. I'm thinking they do. Those trunks will be wood veneer glued between the trees at the bottom.

I'm still playing with the little houses. Two of them have new roofs and one has doors and windows. I'm not happy with the doors and window one. I'm not real crazy about the sequined roof either.

The doors and windows are aluminum can. I really don't know what will happen with the chipboard neighborhood. We'll visit there again soon, I'm sure.

The markers called out to me this past week. The ATC I forgot to scan is also done in markers, as is this 4x6 drawing in a plastic magnetic frame. I call this one Mother and Child in Blue.

So that's all I have for you at the moment!
Tomorrow the Tree is coming inside so I'll be decorating the house in the next few days. Some one really should do the laundry too.

Thanks for reading ....

Is the aluminum sharp? ... or not so bad to weave with? They look kewl!

Beautiful ATC!

Boy, you sure have been a busy girl. I love your little houses and that Christmas tree. I've been wanting to make some Glitter Houses and Bottle Brush Trees, but I doubt it will happen this year. :)
